What is Somatic Therapy and how does it work?

Somatic simply means “Having to do with the body”. Therefore, a somatic therapy of any kind is one that works directly with the body. Talk therapy can be combined with mind-body exercises to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship concerns and other mental health needs holistically.

What are the benefits of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?

The key benefit of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is that it can help clients effectively treat anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other mental health concerns by encouraging people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. ACT develops psychological flexibility and is a form of behavioral therapy that combines mindfulness skills with the practice of self acceptance.

How is Art Therapy used to help people heal?

Art therapy integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative process to improve mental health and well-being. The goal of Art Therapy is to utilize the creative process to help people explore self-expression and, in doing so, find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills. People do not need to have artistic ability or special talent to participate in art therapy, in many circumstances it is used in conjunction with other psychotherapeutic techniques.

I’ve heard about Energetic Healing, but what is it?

Energetic Healing is a collection of mind-body approaches for understanding and improving human functioning. Energetic Healing focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, sensations, and behaviors, and known bioenergy systems (such as meridians and the biofield). These systems and processes exist, and interact, within individuals and between people. They are also influenced by cultural and environmental factors.

Within an Energetic Healing framework, emotional and physical issues are seen, and treated, as bio-energetic patterns within a mind-body-energy system. The mind and body are thought to be interwoven and interactive within this mind-body-energy system, which involves complex communication involving neurobiological processes, innate electrophysiology, psychoneuroimmunology, consciousness, and cognitive-behavioral-emotional patterns.
